Four things that decide whether your website turns searches into calls.
The scan runs the same four checks I run manually before taking on any contractor as a client. It is deliberately narrow: these are the problems that are cheap to fix and expensive to ignore.
Site speed & mobile performance
Real Google PageSpeed data: performance score, First Contentful Paint, Largest Contentful Paint, Total Blocking Time and Cumulative Layout Shift. Most contractor sites fail here on mobile, which is where the majority of "near me" searches happen. A homeowner comparing three companies rarely waits on the slowest one.
SEO fundamentals
Title tag, meta description, H1, image alt text, schema markup and Open Graph tags. These are the fields Google reads first to work out what you do and where you do it. If your homepage title says "Home" or "Quality Service You Can Trust", Google has nothing to rank you for.
SSL & security
HTTPS, the HSTS header and whether HTTP traffic actually redirects to HTTPS. A missing or half-configured certificate produces the browser warning that ends the visit before a homeowner ever sees your phone number.
Platform & tracking stack
Detects what your site is built on - WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, GoDaddy, Next.js - and whether Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, the Meta pixel or Hotjar are installed. If no analytics are present, nobody can tell you where your leads come from, including your current agency.
The instant audit tells you what is broken. It cannot tell you what it is costing you.
A machine can measure your load time and read your title tags. It cannot look at the three companies outranking you in your service area, read their reviews, and tell you which of them is actually beatable this quarter - or whether your problem is the website at all rather than a Google Business Profile with no categories and four reviews.
That part I still do by hand. The free Market Leak Audit covers your Google Business Profile, your map pack visibility, your competitors and where your leads are actually leaking - and it comes back as a recorded walkthrough, not a PDF you have to decode.
Instant website audit - questions I get asked
- Is the website audit really free?
- Yes. Enter a URL and the results appear on screen in about 30 seconds. There is no signup wall, no card, and no obligation to talk to anyone.
- How long does the instant audit take?
- Usually 20 to 40 seconds. The scan runs live against your site and Google PageSpeed while you watch, so the time depends mostly on how fast your site responds.
- What does the audit actually check?
- Four areas: site speed and mobile performance using Google PageSpeed data, SEO fundamentals such as title tags, meta descriptions, H1s, image alt text and schema markup, SSL and security configuration, and which platform and tracking tools your site runs on.
- Do I need to enter my email to see the results?
- No. The results display immediately without an email address. You can optionally have a copy sent to you, but the scan itself has no gate.
- Will this tell me why my website is not generating leads?
- It will tell you whether the technical foundations are the problem - speed, security, indexability and tracking. It cannot judge your offer, your photos, or how fast you return calls, which are just as often the real cause. For that, the human audit at /free-audit covers positioning, Google Business Profile and competitors too.
- Is this audit specific to contractors?
- The technical checks apply to any website. The interpretation is written for contractors and home service businesses, because that is who Brandloc works with - mobile speed and local search signals matter far more for a roofer or a land clearing company than they do for a national e-commerce brand.
- What should I do after the audit?
- Fix anything marked red first, in this order: SSL, then mobile speed, then title tags and H1s, then missing analytics. If you would rather have someone read the results with you and put them in priority order against your competitors, request the free human audit.
- Does a good audit score guarantee better rankings?
- No. A clean technical foundation removes the reasons Google has to hold you back, but rankings also depend on your Google Business Profile, reviews, service area content and links. The audit measures the foundation, not the whole building.
